Cabin in the Woods

Dear Everybody in the Whole World,
I had a chance to see the movie "Cabin in the Woods" early. And it was one of the meat moments in my life. I highly recommend this movie to everyone. This is easily the best movie I've seen this year, and possible the best horror/thriller I've seen EVER.
I was drawn to this movie as it was produced by Joss Whedon, and we all know I basically worship him. Not only that, but the movie was written by the same guy who wrote Cloverfield...and that movie was AWESOME!
Cabin in the Woods is brilliant. It's a movie I can't even bring myself spoil for anyone (normally I don't care about spoilers). The movie comes out tomorrow 4/13/12 and you should all go see it! Yes, even those who don't like horror movies should go see it. The film is a brilliant mix of thriller and sci-go AND comedy. With amazon performances by too many actors to name...plus a couple cliche horror performances that are funny.
Go watch this movie EVEN I you don't like horror films!

It's 3:00am....FedEx normally sends their drivers out at 8:00am...and they normally get here around 8:30.........I don't think I'm going to be able to sleep.

I Smell Like a Girl

It's true, showered in the Girlfriends shower today...grabbed a bottle of body wash called "Paris Amour"..
WTF, REALLY!??
so naturally I made the wrong decision and used it.

but let's not dwell on that today.
I'm wicked excited because I ordered parts to build a new computer!!!
I'm loving TigerDirect.com, a good friend pointed me their way and this is where I shop for geeky computer things now!
I dropped $750 (I'll be getting a $60 rebate) and this thing is going to be a beast! 6 core processor, 8gb RAM, 1tb harddrive and a beautiful video card that has a max resolution bigger than my 42 inch TV (which is actually relevent considering I didn't buy a monitor yet so I'll be using my TV with it for a few weeks at least).
besides the fact that this computer will be the best device in the history of computers*, this is also the first desktop computer I'll own...first that's ALL MINE!!!!!
I'm excited!!!
I've been without a computer for more that a week now...RIP Victoria.

Ba (zinga)

Making a video about cooking is hard.
Especially when you've had a migrane for a week strait.
Gonna try real hard to film myself cooking a few different things this weekend.
And I'll probably get a few episodes together before posting any.
So the basic plan is to post the first episode after the new year.

On a totally different note...Christmas shopping sucks. But I just finished up shopping by dropping about 90 bucks on ThinkGeek.com
Booyah!

On an additional side note.
I'm keeping a journal.
Weird right? I've attempted a daily journal before, and it never keeps. I discovered that they were always fake, I figured one day someone else would always read it, soni always wrote what would be cool for someone else to read. But I found an awesome free application for my iPad...and i've been writing in it pretty regularly for a couple months now.
I'm pretty proud of myself, and it's more true to myself because it's password protected. Plus I never go anywhere without my iPad. So it's pretty safe
Double Booyah!

X-Men Flashbacks

I, like most film critics and geeks, wasn't expecting much from X-Men: First Class. I had every intention of going to see it, I had just expected something closer to "The Last Stand" which I try not to think about.

Now, there were plenty of issues I had with the show.
But surprisingly I was able to look past most of them. I became more engrossed in the film than I ever excepted. And I enjoyed every minute watching this movie.

First off, Magneto Is a badass! We all knew this of course...but Michael Fassbender was fantastic!

Secondly, they managed to make The Banshee a cool character, I always thought he was an annoying character, but damn funny in this movie.

It's hard to stress how pleased I was with the film, and it might just have been because my expectations were so low. Even so, by the end of the film I was literally on the edge of my seat.

I haven't been able to stop thinking about the movie since watching it this morning. It's really brought me back to everything i've always loved about The X-Men, and it shows all the fun potential a real "comic book" movie can be, including your cheesy morals and silly one liners squeezed in.
While reliving all my crazy superhero fantasies I couldn't stop thinking about the X-Men animated series from the 90's, which everyone agrees was easily the best one.

Well, one quick Amazon search later....and all five seasons are on their way. 60 bucks for the entire series....yeah, I'd say it's worth it.

The Most Lazy

I have been more lazy recently than normal, which is impressive (if you ask me).
I got paid 11 days ago and have not cashed my check yet. That's not to say I don't need to, in fact I really needed too, but instead of just waking up early enough to go to the bank before work, I've just been dipping into my savings and putting bills on my line of credit.
Nothing major or bad, and I'll be able to pay it all back when I get around to going to the damn bank.
I realized today that I get paid again in 9 days, i'm definitely going to try to make it until I get paid again before going to the bank, just for shits and giggles.

On top of that laziness I've had three compliments/comments about my beard in the last 24 hours.
I'm a hairy MF. (MF is short for Mother Fucker, just so I don't offend anyone).
I've been talking about getting a haircut for two or three weeks now...still haven't.

In short, I have no money and refuse to groom my body hair.
I also have the day off tomorrow and I plan on staying in my pajamas and watching television all day, I have much I need to get through: Newsradio seasons 4 and 5, Cheers seasons 4-11, Carnivale season 2, Deadwood seasons 2 and 3. Plus I want to watch The Pretender again...and maybe go through Scrubs.

uh oh...

They annouced the iPad 2 yeterday.

I spent over an hour watching the keynote speach, and was sadly more impressed than I should have been.

Yes there are flaws. not as much RAM as expected. And while it's exciting to get cameras for the new iPad, it's lame that they're the same crappy cameras on the iPod, not even close to comaring to the cameras on the iPhone 4.

The new cover is a great idea.

Also the adapter to connect and HDMI cable to the device is awesome! plus that adapter is compatable with the iPhone 4 and iPods 3 and 4.

All around...I geeked out over it.

over the last few years I've become a pretty big Apple fan.
Been using iTunes for along time now. had a couple of iPods.
I'll probably never own an Apple Computer, but I do really love the idea of a tablet. all the possiblities are great. I'd read the "newspaper" in tablet form. I'd probably write more (laptop is great fir that though), I've love to play with some art applications that are larger than the 3 inch screen of my iPod.

Basically...I think I'm going to buy one on the 11th when they come out.

My biggest concern was that I had previously deciced to blow my next paycheck on the Nintendo 3DS. this comes out on March 27th...so I had a crazy hard decision to make....then I realized...that if i just dont spend any money on anything else this month...I could probably buy both... Now I'm torn because I do want to start saving more money.
But i REALLLY like getting new toys : )

Proper Fanboy Status Acheived!

So, for pretty much all my life I've considered myself a gamer. I grew up with all the incarnations of the nintendo and gameboy systems, and I had friends a plenty with every other system.
I have my own Nintendo wii and fully plan on purchasing the Nintendo 3DS in March.
Also my Girlfriend recently purchased a Playstaion 3 and (within the last year) an Xbox 360....so, Gamer status fully recognized.

Morso than a gamer. I consider myself a film conniseur. I review movies (sometimes) and obsess about all the new ones. I study actors and directors, and have massed a decent sized DVD collection over the last few years that is continually growing.

What is one very important thing that Video Games and Movies have in common.

Yes, a television.
And not any television. A Widescreen 40" HD 1080p 120hz LCD Television.

Now, the TV I've been rockin for the last 5 years is fine. just a nice flatscreen 24" (heavy bastard). And it's been fine. it has a few spots on the screen that turn green if it's been on for more than 3 hours...but it works.
that said....it's a peice of crap. My movies and video games deserved more. And now that I have a Widescreen 40" HD 1080p 120hz LCD Television I know that.
Even without any high definition settings turned on...everything is so pretty.
Now that I have a ridiculously nice television I love watching movies and playing video games more than ever!

Geektastic

Sadly the fact that I went to the comic book store is blogworthy news.
It was pretty exciting though. I picked up 5 back issues of the series I'm collecting for only 1 dollar.
Yeah...one dollar...five comics!!
It was exciting, I grabbed one book from the dollar bin and four from the quarter bin...then I got 50% off at the counter. It was quite exciting!!

On a slightly less geeky note, TRON is tonight. So ready for this! I have midnight IMAX 3D tickets. And I can't wait.
And before none of you berade me for going to a 3D movie, which none o you know that I hate, I shall tolerate TRON in 3D because I know it was made for 3D and not enhanced for it post production.

Mua ha ha!!

Totally picked up the new iPod Touch 4th Generation a couple days ago. And it's super delicious.
Only 300 bucks and as long as I have wi-fi I have everything I could possibly want...and it fits in my pocket. It's still easier to write out long documents or blog entries on the lappy, but things like Facebook are amazing on the iPod. The application makes it way easier and cleaner to navigate and maintain. Twitter is no longer clogging up my phone's inbox and at a moments notice I have dozens of game possibilities...give me a few minutes and I have thousand of game opportunities.
And while I do all this I can listen to my music or a podcast.
Because I pretty much have wi-fi wherever I go...this works out well. Plus Chelsea got one too...and if we are both online we have free facetime. Which turns out to be the fastest video chat I've ever used.
Loving this.
And don't get me started on the gyro in the device, I've fallen in love.

Moar Comicals!!!

I've become a fan of Warren Ellis.
As I got more and more into Comic Books I've started recognizing names of Writers and Artists...like Warren Ellis.

The first comic that showed me Warren is Freakangels .

I love steampunk and whilst searching aimlessly this was one of my best finds. I've been reading it online for a few years now and just picked up the TPB of volumes 1 and 2.

Anyways I just picked up volume 1 (and possibly the only volume) of Ignition City IT'S SO COOOOL.
A different steampunk style that makes me all sorts of giddy inside.

Warren Ellis has so many other comics I need to get into, this will take much time and money : ( ugh

This Just in....

I'm spending a lot of time playing video games.
Not that I regret this, cause I don't, but it's different.

growing up I would play an hour or so and be done. I had two days off work in a row...I did nothing but play Ocarina of Time on my Nintendo 64. Sometimes I would take small breaks to play a level or two of Lego Harry Potter on the Wii, or Lego Star Wars :D

I didn't sleep at all for 38ish hours, and I ate only Tostino's Party Pizza's and drank Mountain Dew.
It was one of the most amazing times of my life.
Also it was cool because I played through OOT using a walkthrough so I managed to get every little thing possible.

And of course as I had to get a couple hours of sleep and go to work the next day I went through my normal I-feel-like-shit-because-my-life-is-pointless-and-I've-never-contributed-to-anything-important mood. But overall I feel good about it. Because as much as people are expecting me to grow up, get married, stop making "That's what she said" jokes...stop groping my girlfriend in public... you know, things like that, I figure I'm single and have few enough responsibilities I'm allowed these moments.

Geeked Out

I bought my first comic book yesterday. I simultaneously made me feel super awesome and geeky along with feeling like my life needs more meaning so that I don't get sucked into a super pointless expensive hobby.
It was great.

Anyways I picked up a copy of Serenity: Float Out which is naturally about characters from Joss Whedon's Firefly/Serenity Universe. It's a pretty cool comic, not super amazing but a great One Shot.
Naturally this means I need all of the Serenity Comics. There are already two groups of three comic collections I need to get, Serenity: Those Left Behind and Serenity: Better Days. Then another One Shot called The Other Half. I need to get these and read the hell out of them because (supposedly) in November they'releasing a new story arc revolving around Shepherd Book before the TV show took place...and that's the single most storyline Firefly Fans want more than any other.

wow....super geek now.

Joss Whedon is my god : )
(also it's nice to know for sure [even though it was already announced, just not officially] that Joss Whedon is directing the upcoming Avengers movie)

This comic thing might explode in a bad way...my bigest problem is that if I ever actually purchase a comic book I will want every single issue in the collection...why would I just want part of it.
And while I don't suspect there will be a whole lot of comics I will need...there sure are a lot I'd like to read.
Also I'm pretty sure I need to check out Mike Mignola's Hellboy line (due to the recomendation of a friend [that's right Stephen...you] ).

Also I'm really tired right now and I'm in a very odd/hyperactive kind of mood.
Also I'm at work and I just saved sombody'd life
*ting* +1
